> What will the weather conditions likely be on the ride?
Being that the ride takes place in Mount Lebanon, the weather is unpredictable and can change very quickly throughout the day. Given the unpredictable nature of the region in that time of year, you must be prepared for varying weather conditions throughout the day.
> What happens in the event of extreme weather?
The Bosta Challenge is hosted in some of Lebanon’s most spectacular alpine regions. As is the nature of running an outdoor event, the ride is subject to the unpredictable climate and weather conditions characterized by these areas. The Chain Reaction works closely with relevant stakeholders to develop contingency plans in the event of extreme weather conditions and reserves the right to change or cancel the event in such circumstances.
> Where will the funds go?
The funds raised will go towards the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL). The CCCL is a regional pioneer in pediatric cancer treatment with a mission of hope and a healthy future for children; where they are treated free of charge, with no cost at all on their parents. Inaugurated in April 2002, the CCCL has treated, to date, over 1,000 children with cancer.
A portion of the raised funds will also go to Steer North, an Australian registered health promotion charity, founded by two young Lebanese, whose purpose is to inspire and empower young adults to live healthy and active lives. Through a 4000 km cycling journey across Australia, Steer North creates a mobile community that cultivates capacity, inspires ideas, stimulates action and advances health from the grassroots up. The Chain Reaction is a result of Steer North’s commitment to promote health and physical activity through cycling.
